A tartine is a little French open-faced sandwich, usually made with a creamy spread, topped with pretty garnishes. It's often served as an appetizer or light lunch. Radishes make a perfect tartine topping- they're crunchy, colorful, and tasty!
On the 4th of July, I had very simple make-your-own tartine fixings out:
Crackers
3 spreads:
Guacamole (leftover we had in fridge)
Creamy Feta Dip (I mixed feta crumbles with a little buttermilk, salt and pepper)
Herb Butter* (I blended 1/2 stick butter with 2-3 Tbsp. snipped, mixed herbs, +salt and pepper)*leftover herb butter was fabulous next morning in an omelet
Very thinly sliced radishes
Another very good spread for a radish tartine is egg salad. But, you get the idea- add any spread that sounds good to you over crackers, baguette slices, mini rye bread, etc.; top with radishes -and/or of course, any other little bits and pieces of veggies and herbs you wish. A fancy-dancy host, that's you!
