2 medium-large apples
Core the apples, leaving a little at the base so the filling will stay inside.
If you wish, scoop out a somewhat wider opening.
No Butter Filling Recipe:
1/4 c. cranberries, raisins, or mixed dried fruit
2 Tbsp. chopped, toasted pecans (or other nuts)
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsp. maple syrup
Butter & Brown Sugar Filling Recipe:
2 Tbsp. butter, softened
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1//4 tsp. cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375.
In a small baking dish, add about 1/4” of water. Place the apples, upright, in the dish. Stuff the apples with the filling. Bake until the apples are soft, about 20-40 minutes, depending on apple size. Serve warm.
If desired, drizzle with maple syrup, and add a dollop of whipped cream,
vanilla ice cream or yogurt.
